There's something wonderfully simple about opening the fridge to find breakfast already made. This version of overnight oats brings together the classic, comforting duo of apple and cinnamon in a way that feels both nourishing and indulgent.
Registered Dietitian, Hannah Poplin, loves using Fairlife milk here for its creamy texture and because it adds a bit more protein to help keep you feeling full and satisfied throughout your morning.
But the real magic is that this recipe is a fantastic template. Make it once as written, then feel free to play around with your favorite milk, spices, and toppings. It’s all about creating a breakfast that you genuinely look forward to!

Let's Make It Together
Here’s what you’ll need for one satisfying jar:
- ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup Fairlife milk (less sugar and more protein than normal milk!)
- ½ tablespoon chia seeds (optional, for a pudding-like thickness)
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A tiny pinch of salt (to make all the flavors pop)
- ½ cup diced apple (we love Honeycrisp or Gala)
- 2 tablespoons toasted pecans (optional, for that perfect crunch)

Instructions
- Combine: In a jar or container with a lid, add the oats, Fairlife milk, chia seeds (if using), maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt. Give it a good stir until everything is happily combined.
- Rest: Pop the lid on and tuck it into the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, or ideally, overnight. This is where the magic happens!
- Top & Enjoy: The next morning, stir your oats, then crown them with the fresh diced apple and toasted pecans. That’s it! Breakfast is served.
The base mixture (without the fresh apple) will be happy in your fridge for up to 4 days, making your future mornings even easier!
A Few Friendly Tips
- Oat Notes: Old-fashioned rolled oats are our go-to for the perfect tender-yet-chewy texture. If you only have quick oats, they’ll work just fine, but will soften more overnight. Steel-cut oats will give you a heartier, chewier bite.
- Your Milk, Your Way: We used Fairlife milk for a protein boost, but any milk you enjoy will work wonderfully! For a non-dairy option, unsweetened almond milk is a great choice and will still give you that creamy consistency we love.
- Make It Your Own: The chia seeds thicken the mixture beautifully, and the pecans add a lovely crunch. But they’re totally optional!
- Check the Consistency: After a night in the fridge, your oats will be thick and creamy. If you prefer a looser texture, just stir in an extra splash of your favorite milk right before you dig in.
